The French triangle day 7: miserable rain

It's raining in Paris today. After the blue skies yesterday, it's now miserable. So much so that I didn't want to leave my hotel room this morning to even get some breakfast.

I met up with a pair of Parisien foodies for lunch today, and they suggested I try Tanguy, a crèperie in their neighborhood. While we do have some decent places in Hong Kong for galettes and crèpes Breton, it's been more than 10 years since I actually tasted them in France.

I don't normally drink much at lunch, but decided to have a glass of cidre from Coat-Albret.

Crèpe andouille de Guèmenè quidu, oignons confits au chouchen et tomme - OF COURSE I had to pick one with andouille de Guèmenè! I absolutely love these sausages! I do love how crispy the galettes are, but apparently they didn't use enough butter today to satisfy my friends.

Crèpe poitrine fumée, œuf et Tomme Le Hirel - while my friends took a sweet one for the second act, I couldn't help ordering another savory option, and smoked bacon was definitely the right call.

After lunch I was shown around some of the gourmet destinations nearby. We made a stop on rue du Nil and I bought some boudin noir, andouille, and other goodies at Boucherie-Chacuterie Terroirs d'Avenir. These are vacuum packed so they could easily act as cushioning and stuffing material in my suitcase...

We also walked along rue Montorgueil to see how the place has slowly gone upscale and hip, but not much interested me here. So I headed north to try to bag a bottle or two of that elusive Champagne for the label drinker at home... but no joy.

Lunch today was actually on the light side and I needed a little pick-me-up after walking around in this miserable rain, so I made a pit stop at Le Nord Sud for a café gourmand. My espresso came with a fruit salad chich had pomegranate seeds, kiwi, pineapple, melon, and passion fruit; a financier, pistachio crème brûlée, and a brownie.

I called off the search and decided to go back to the hotel. Best to rest up a little before the big dinner tonight.
