I'm back home in Taiwan for a week for my long-postponed dental surgery, and I would get just one meal between arrival last night and the dreaded procedure. Little Rabbit had recommended a place to eat chicken to Foursheets, so we trekked across town to have ourselves a quick lunch at Warm Home (溫暖好家).
Oyster mushroom three-cup sauce (三杯杏鮑菇) - pretty happy with this vegetarian version.
Medium squid with salted egg yolk (金沙中卷) - the squid was coated in a ring of batter which tasted kinda sweet, so maybe it was made of sweet potato starch. Anyway, this was tasty and the sweetness of the batter meant the dish wasn't too salty from the egg yolk.
Poached chicken (白切雞) - Foursheets was happy with this chicken, so that was what mattered.
Steamed rice with vegetables (菜飯)
Aiyu jelly in Chinese mesona tea (仙草愛玉) - free dessert featuring two of my favorite Taiwanese ingredients. Very happy.
This was a decent meal, and I liked how the owner made us feel at home. Next time I won't be in such a rush, so I'll save some stomach space for the shaved us at Eastern Shaved Ice (東區粉圓) just down the alley.
