Three 3 stars in France day 4: Bordeaux to Paris

It's my last morning in Bordeaux, and thankfully I've chosen a train that doesn't depart too early. That meant I could still sit and enjoy breakfast on the patio at La Maison d'Estournel.

As usual, I picked up the viennoiserie...

Today I also grabbed a crêpe from the stack on the table, and spread some caramel and chocolate on top.

My driver from yesterday came to drive me to Gare Bordeaux Saint-Jean, and we had a good conversation along the way. But before we get into the city, I asked him to make a couple of stops so I could take better pictures in the warm, morning light. First stop was, of course, where I had dinner last night - Château Lafite-Rothschild.

Then I had to say hello to this beauty - Château Pichon Baron. On my first trip to Bordeaux, I got up early in the morning due to jetlag, and I got to see her in the glorious morning light. She still looked gorgeous this morning, but I didn't have the luxury of time to linger.

Some great memories were made on this trip. Hopefully I'll be back sooner rather than later.

After arriving back at Paris Gare Montparnasse, I rolled my luggage uphill a short distance to check into Novotel Paris Centre Gare Montparnasse. I'm staying near the station again as I'll be taking more train journeys in the coming days.

It's now lunch time and I didn't want a big or fancy meal, so I simply strolled across the street to check out the menu at La Belle Epoque. Sure enough, they had exactly what I was looking for...

Museau de porc à la Lyonnaise - this is exactly the kind of stuff I wanted to be eating when I'm on my own in France. Simple stuff, not touristy, and stuff I wouldn't find when I'm in Hong Kong.

Pig snout terrine with cornichons? Yes, ma'am! Even better on bread.

Véritable andouillette A.A.A.A.A., sauce moutarde, frites maison - OF COURSE I needed to order this! Especially when it's certified by Association amicale des amateurs d'andouillette authentique.

Thick cut on bread. Best. So stinky. So happy.

I had a couple of hours in the afternoon, so I spent some of it working and also took a nap.

It's a complete coincidence that Geruhage and Tomo-chan are in France at the same time, so I was very happy to meet up with them and tag along the meals they have planned. I'll be spending the next few days hanging out with them, starting by meeting up at Danico for a drink.

You Son of a Peach - made with Planteray 3 Stars Rum, peach, mint, lime, pea soda, and truffle. I tasted the rum, the peach, the mint, and lime. Thankfully I didn't taste the truffle...

But now, it was time to walk to our dinner appointment...
